MARJOLAINE BOUTIN-SWEET TO PLAY KEY ROLE IN MULCAIR’S SHADOW CABINET

The Quebec MP will serve as Official Opposition Housing Critic

MONTRÉAL – MP Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet (Hochelaga) will serve as Official Opposition Housing Critic and Deputy Critic for Human Resources and Skills Development, NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair announced yesterday.

Boutin-Sweet said she was enthusiastic about her new responsibilities. “The housing issue concerns many of my Hochelaga constituents,” she explained. “There’s a severe lack of significant measures to address the many needs.”

The MP also said she will closely monitor the government’s actions in human resources and skills development, with her colleague, Chris Charlton (Hamilton Mountain). “The Conservatives prefer to cut programs rather than propose innovative solutions. I will make sure they are held accountable for their actions,” she said.

“I am proud of the quality of our team,” said Mulcair. “And I’m especially proud of the unity and sense of duty New Democrat MPs showed during this process.”
